Bureau in a box

So here is the bulk of the gear. Two cameras, one deck for now, mixer, cables, lights, tripods, and odds and ends. Total of 10 pieces shipping it out December 31. Not sure when it will get there or whether it will arrive in one piece but it does weight a ton. Well not sure if it is a true ton, but happy that I'm not hauling through airports this time. Next up is to pack up the personal gear.

For those collegues in the business here are the workhorses for the next three years. One XD HD 355, and one HZ7U. Will be cutting with Final Cut Pro on a 17 inch Mac. The office is within AP's Bureau, so at least there will be some support. Will most likely ftp with Satellite as the back up.

The new office?

So while I deal with accountants and banks trying to put my life in a box for the next few years Ben O'Hara-Byrne has been busy. Ben is the report or should I say Bureau Chief. Anyways he was kind enough to send me a couple of photos of our new office. Keep in mind that we haven't moved in and won't until the 6th of January. Fance 24 occupied the space up until yesterday and i looks like they left us some parting gifts of used furniture. Home sweet home.

JANUARY 5TH

Finally have a ticket booked, so I'm heading out January 5th, arriving Jan 6. All I can say is god bless Aircanada and free upgrades. I'll be posting more as the day gets closer and try and show you the amount of gear I get to haul around. Those in the TV business have experienced the "glamour" of humping 7 or more road cases through various airports and customs check points. That's it for now will try to update this as often as I can.

I got a new gig!

Hi everyone!
You may remember me from such blogs as: acton's afghan adventures.
Well I have a new adventure to blog about.
The low down is that I have a new job with Global National.
I'm going to be opening the Beijing China Bureau along with Ben O'Hara Byrne.
Ben is the face I get to try and make him look good. It's a deal that runs a little shy of
3 years. We will be covering China and Asia for Global National and working for a current
events show that the Network is starting in January.

So right now, I'm sitting around waiting for a visa, but hope to be on my way in or around Jan 4th, 2009. The gear is trickling in and I'm working a couple of days a week for the Ottawa Bureau.

So as I tie up the loose ends of my life and leave my loved ones behind I'll be posting some photos before the big day but hope to keep people in the loop on my life as I take on this latest challenge.

So cheers for now and see you on tv.
